Reader’s Question:

How will I know the cheapest car insurance companies in Arizona?

Ed

Phoenix AZ

Different insurance companies use the same factors when computing for premiums. However, the weight they place for each factor differs. One insurer may find you less risky that the other. To be able to know this, you should do some research. Knowing the cheapest car insurance companies in Arizona requires shopping for quotes. The only way for you to know which companies offer the lowest rates is by requesting for quotes from each one of them.

If you don’t know the insurers in your area, get a business directory and draw up a list from there. Once the list is complete, call or visit each one to ask for quotes and whatever discounts you may qualify for. You can also go online and compare the quotes you obtained from the insurers you have visited. Aside from comparing quotes, you can also find the cheapest car insurance companies in Arizona by asking brokers to help you find one that offers the cheapest. Brokers often can provide you with the lowest rates. Also, you can find the cheapest car insurance companies in Arizona by sticking to the minimum liability coverage requirement for Arizona. Remember though that getting the cheapest quotes should not be your sole consideration. Include the quality of service.

Reader’s Question:

My daughter wants to purchase a car, can we insure it in our policy in a New Jersey? Or should we remove her from our existing policy as an authorized driver?

Carol

Thank you for asking Carol.

If your daughter bought a car in Arizona, I do not think your New Jersey policy will cover her. Arizona requires that every motor vehicle operating on their public roads be covered by one of the statutory forms of financial responsibility through a carrier that is authorized to do business in the state of Arizona. Arizona law requires minimum liability coverage of $15,000/$30,000 for bodily injury liability and $10,000 for property damage liability. As for removing her name from your current Illinois policy, you will need to contact your insurance company to discuss this option.

Reader’s Question:

What is the minimum liability insurance required in the state of Arizona?

Jay

Thank you for asking Jay

Arizona requires that every motor vehicle operated on the public roadways to be covered by one of the statutory forms of financial responsibility, more commonly called liability insurance. You should get this from a carrier that is authorized to do business in Arizona. This includes golf carts, motorcycles and mopeds.

As of August 2006, minimum levels of financial responsibility are:

* $15,000 bodily injury liability for one person and $30,000 for two or more persons
* $10,000 property damage liability
